SOBRE EL PROYECTO
Antes de comenzar la universidad en Puerto Rico, Kamila viaja sola a la ciudad de Nueva York por primera vez para visitar a su familia en East Harlem. Allí comienza a descubrir que ser puertorriqueña/o/e no se define únicamente por la isla que llamas hogar, sino también por las personas, las tradiciones y las historias que unen a las comunidades puertorriqueñas donde quiera que estén.
Cuando surgen nuevos edificios y desaparecen espacios familiares, los jóvenes intentan comprender lo que permanece, lo que se pierde y lo que significa crecer entre mundos en transición.
La portada debe reflejar honestidad, profundidad y la complejidad emocional de comunidades en transformación.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Before beginning college in Puerto Rico, Kamila travels to New York City on her own for the first time to visit family in East Harlem. There, she begins to discover that being Puerto Rican isn't defined only by the island you call home, but also by the people, traditions, and stories that connect Puerto Rican communities wherever they are.
As familiar spaces transform and new buildings rise, young people are left to make sense of what remains, what disappears, and what it means to grow up between shifting worlds.
The cover should reflect honesty, depth, and the emotional complexity of communities in transition.
🇵🇷 ELEGIBILIDAD
• Estudiantes que residen actualmente en Puerto Rico
• Estudiantes en grados 6–12 (aproximadamente 12–18 años)
• Deben estar matriculados en una escuela intermedia, superior o programa educativo equivalente
🗽ELIGIBILITY
• Students currently residing in Puerto Rico
• Students in grades 6–12 (approximately ages 12–18)
• Must be enrolled in a middle school, high school, or equivalent educational program
DOS CONCURSOS ESTUDIANTILES
Esta convocatoria incluye dos concursos paralelos:
• 🇵🇷 Uno para estudiantes que residan en Puerto Rico
• 🗽 Uno para estudiantes que residan en la Ciudad de Nueva York y sean de herencia puertorriqueña
El diseño ganador del concurso en Puerto Rico será utilizado como la portada oficial de la edición en español de la novela.
El diseño ganador del concurso en Nueva York será utilizado como la portada oficial de la edición en inglés.
Ambas ediciones serán publicadas y distribuidas. Ambos artistas recibirán el mismo reconocimiento y compensación.
TWO PARALLEL STUDENT CONTESTS
This initiative includes two equal contests:
• 🇵🇷 One for students residing in Puerto Rico
• 🗽 One for students residing in New York City who are of Puerto Rican heritage
The Puerto Rico student winner’s design will be used as the official cover for the Spanish-language edition of the novel.
The NYC diaspora student winner’s design will be used as the official cover for the English-language edition.
Both editions will be published and distributed. Both artists will receive equal recognition and compensation.

• $100 (cheque o tarjeta de regalo)
• Crédito oficial en la portada del libro
• Nombre del/la artista impreso en la portada
• Breve biografía del/la artista incluida dentro del libro
• 5 copias impresas del libro publicado

• Tamaño final del libro: 5" x 8"
• Formato vertical
• Resolución mínima: 300 dpi
• Solo ilustración de portada (no se requiere lomo ni contraportada)
• No incluyas título ni nombre de autora en el diseño
• Enviar archivo en formato JPG o PNG
• La obra debe ser original
